My oil on canvas work deals heavily with the body. Often I pull the body out of its context to create an ambiguity in form and clarity of tone and atmosphere. Fragments of memories cast a shadow on my work that I hope touches the viewer on their first impression.
Color has an agenda. Cobalt can twist a face. Orange can disrupt connections and spaces. I emphasize movement and line to express that agenda. My work explores classic genres such as still life, portraiture, and figure painting, to serve as contemporary reflections on themes of melancholy, sensuality, and isolation.
An Oregon native, I graduated from Portland State University where I studied Art History and Philosophy. I currently work out of my home studio in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
